Eye make up precautions

Never share your kajal, eyeliner or mascara — even with your best friends. You can spread bacteria that cause eye infections. Also, be wary of samples at cosmetic counters.
Make sure you discard all eye makeup that has been opened for more than a year, even if it has not passed its ‘best before’ date. Clean your make-up brushes regularly. Remove all traces of eye make-up before you sleep. Use hypoallergenic, oil-free eye makeup removers.

What Is Cataract?

  • The eye is like a camera, with light rays passing through the pupil and into the lens which focuses objects onto the retina lining the back of the eye. From there, the image passes, via the optic nerve, to the brain which processes the images.
  • Cataract is a clouding of the lens, which prevents light from passing clearly through it, causing loss of vision.

You are what you eat..!!

The essential eye vitamins, ACE help reduce the risk of cataracts, night blindness, corneal ulcers and macular degeneration. The other important nutritional elements are carotenoids, lutein, bioflavonoids and omega-3 fatty acids.

Carrots, all dark green leafy vegetables, red and yellow fruits and vegetables, fish, nuts, eggs, milk, oranges, strawberries, apples, spinach, blueberries, sweet potatoes, hazelnuts, almonds are all rich sources of ‘eye vitamins’. A simple rule of the thumb is to keep your plate as colourful and uncooked as possible.
